“His work has sold millions of copies and influenced movies, TV shows, and more –

he's written classic runs of The Flash, a massive reinvention of Superman,

a definitive take on the future of DC Comics characters in Kingdom Come,

and much more.”

“There is nobody alive in this world who knows or loves

DC Comics as much as Mark Waid.

He's the man who has literally written the book on DC's greatest heroes several times over. He's the man who turned Wally West into the Fastest Man Alive. The man who gave the Justice League and Superman definitive origins, and both their stories a definitive end. The man who rekindled the multiverse, and never, ever gave up on the rallying cry of 'Long Live The Legion.'

"Mark Waid knows a thing or two about Superman. Besides writing the Man of Steel's adventures in comics for the past 40 years (including the classic Kingdom Come and Superman: Birthright, and currently in DC's Action Comics, World's Finest and Justice League Unlimited), he has been an unabashed fan of the character since childhood; only a fool would test his knowledge of Superman trivia.

But one question about the new James Gunn Superman film has left Waid stumped: Why are certain corners of the media and fandom so upset to discover that the legendary "visitor from another planet" identifies as an immigrant?"

"If Superman's greatest weakness is green kryptonite, then Clark Kent's may well be the ethics of journalism -- thanks to his work as a reporter who has to cover his own heroic alter ego. It is a conflict in the character apparent since his first comic book appearance."
